With a streamlined design, the FarPointe Alpha Cruiser™ is made for layering up or as a stand alone piece when you're on the move. Soft to the touch and lighter than your typical long sleeve shirt. It provides excellent warmth while the lightweight fabric allows for quick drying.
FarPointe Alpha Cruiser hoodies are among the most popular ultralight hoodies made from Polartec Alpha Direct. This material has gained major traction in recent years among ultralight hiking and trekking enthusiasts. It was originally developed for military use to create an extremely lightweight and highly breathable insulating layer that wouldn’t cause overheating during high-output activities.
Essentially, it’s an ultra-light mesh covered with fleece-like fibers. The fabric is lightweight, packable, soft, and very pleasant to the touch and it dries extremely fast. It performs exceptionally well during active movement, offering gentle warmth while remaining extremely breathable, making it ideal as a breathable hiking hoodie or trekking midlayer. In cold or windy conditions, however, it must be paired with a wind-resistant outer layer, as it offers no wind protection.
FarPointe hoodies, made in the USA, also stand out thanks to their clean, urban-friendly design. Compared to some competing products, these ultralight midlayers look great even for everyday city use, making them suitable for a wide range of trips. Note that the fabric is partially see-through, so the color of the clothing worn underneath may show through.
Please note that due to its ultralight nature, the material is prone to snagging, and long-term use requires care, especially around vegetation, hook-and-loop fasteners, and when putting the hoodie on or taking it off. In environments with a higher risk of damage, and in windy conditions, we recommend combining it with a wind-resistant outer layer for the best overall experience. Gradual shedding of fibers is a normal characteristic of this material.
